The Why of the "i"
Since 2018, the Greenville Homeless Alliance has provided policymakers and our community with the evidence-based, nonpartisan data they need to increase options for individuals and families seeking stability and a safe, affordable home in Greenville County. The logo from DNA Creative Communications was intentionally designed to communicate that when public and private partners join together with a collective approach that is focused on the person, we can achieve durable solutions. Recognizing that every person is part of the solution also equals the opportunity we have to build relationships with a person or family who is experiencing homelessness. The power of building relationships is that we all become stronger which in turn creates a more resilient community.
Our partner, Triune Mercy Center, was inspired by what their pastor, Jennifer Fouse Sheorn, saw in the documentary Community First, A Home for the Homeless. We invite you to be inspired by the philosophy of the innovative and successful model for mitigating homelessness in Austin, TX. When you purchase a virtual ticket to the inaugural iGNITE Luncheon on Monday, November 15 you will have an opportunity to watch the documentary before you hear Alan Graham who is the lead visionary for the Community First! Village. Alan will speak live from Grace Church Pelham Road campus. In person tickets are sold out!
"It is specifically designed to lift the chronically homeless off the streets of the Austin area and offer them a place to call home, helping them to heal from the ravages of life on the streets, allowing them to rediscover a purpose in their lives, and then going out and beginning to care for others in the world."
- Alan Graham, CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes
We will also be sharing short Facebook Live updates the week before the iGNITE Luncheon to showcase the incredible work of our dedicated partners. In 2019, on November 15, the Mayor of the City of Greenville and Greenville County Council Chair signed a joint proclamation to establish the Greenville Homeless Alliance Hunger and Homelessness Awareness day. Your participation in a virtual watch party this year will help us celebrate two years of this anniversary and help us continue to ignite change.
We are also gathering to celebrate the power of collaboration. This less than two-minute video captures why the Greenville Homeless Alliance is important. On November 15, you will see the connections between what Alan shares with elements happening here from the dedicated partners of the Greenville Homeless Alliance.
Thanks to support from our generous contributors and key partners, the Greenville Homeless Alliance has grown in the number of partners and stakeholders who strive to understand and solve the crisis of homelessness, offering insights and analyses that help to increase options, reduce barriers, and strengthen the effectiveness of the public sector.
Your support will allow us to seize more opportunities to impact policy at the local level, advance evidence-based solutions, and ignite change in ending homelessness. We welcome your donation and have a bonus offer available until November 5.
See you on November 15! Thank you for creating change to end the crisis of homelessness for people in our community.
- Susan McLarty, Greenville Homeless Alliance Coordinator
